Description
Glider Nectar 1kg Balanced diet for gum and nectar-eating animals including Sugar Gliders and related species. About Glider Diets In the wild, Gliders are omnivores feeding on plant secretions such as gum and sap, nectar and pollen from flowers, as well as insects and invertebrates. They obtain most of their energy from plant sources and can digest both simple sugars from nectar as well as complex carbohydrates from gums. Studies show that the natural diet of Sugar Gliders may contain up to 50% acacia and eucalypt gums, depending on seasonal availability. It is thought that the soluble fibre in gums is digested by microbes in the caecum of the Sugar Glider. Gliders obtain most of their protein from insects and pollen and these items are actively selected in the breeding season to meet increased protein requirements for reproduction. Captive diets are usually high in readily digestible carbohydrates (sugar & starch), but often lack the soluble fibre found in the wild diet. Benefits of Glider Nectar Nutritionally Balanced – Provides a full range of vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients in line with published guidelines for Sugar Gliders (Dierenfeld & Whitehouse-Tedd, 2018).
